Perhaps the best measure of the effectiveness of a teacher is the generation of students that go on to become great teachers themselves. Eight of my former students and advisees are now themselves university professors, two of these at Ivy League institutions in the US (Harvard and Brown U), and one at the National Research University Higher School of Economics in Moscow, often called \u201cRussia\u2019s Harvard\u201d. I have served as the primary mentor for 10 completed PhD dissertations, 19 MA theses (see a complete list in Section A.7<\/a>), plus numerous post-doctoral scholars and visiting scholars. Here is a partial list, representing only the advisees that hold prominent academic teaching positions. Many other former advisees are in other relevant positions, for example in the US Depts of State and Defense.<\/p>\n
